Charities helping the victims of the Asian tsunami look set to benefit from additional tax relief potentially worth millions of pounds following a meeting with taxmen today.
Chancellor Gordon Brown ordered taxmen at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to meet representatives of the Disasters Emergency Committee after press reports that charities could miss out on �9 million worth of relief under the Government�s Gift Aid scheme."
