Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on the international community to disburse more of the billions of dollars of aid pledged to help rebuild the country's tsunami-devastated Aceh province.

Nine months after the Indian Ocean tsunami struck Aceh and other parts of Asia, international donors have raised more than $US11 billion."

ABC News: Tsunami Response Exposes Limits on China: "SINGAPORE Jan 12, 2005 — China which has recently taken a larger role in the politics of Southeast Asia seems strangely absent from the international response to the tsunami disaster.

To be sure, China has hardly been idle. It has promised $83 million in aid, and Chinese citizens have donated $18 million more. Premier Wen Jiabao attended last week's relief summit in Indonesia, and China has sent supplies and a 14-member medical team to hard-hit Sri Lanka."
